Training Programs
The Southern Michigan Railroad Society is an all-volunteer operating railroad museum, and we are grateful for the generous skills, commitment, and efforts of our volunteer members. They restore antique equipment, keep it operating, and make sure that the track is capable of handling the excursion operations. In order to do it safely, and keep our guests, passengers, crew, and others safe, there is an annual Safety Training Class and hands-on experience training.
Our Operating Train Crew Members do have required minimum number of trips or days worked during the year to maintain certification or work to a new level of the operating crew.
Volunteers start by becoming Members of the Society. If you haven't joined yet, complete the Membership Application and mail, or we can take care of it at your first meeting!
