Things to do in downtown Tecumseh
Historic downtown Tecumseh is one of Michigan's most charming. Shopping for everyone, antiques and a variety of dining. On our regular trains, you can "lay over" 2 hours and enjoy some time in Tecumseh. Many of our other trains leave from Tecumseh. Make it part of your plan.
So much dining a block away
North/east: The Dog House serves hot dogs, sandwiches and salads. ($)
South/east: The English Tea Room serves old style tea. ($$)
North/west: JR's Tavern serves American fare and drinks in a sports bar setting. ($$)
North/west: Basil Boys does pizza, pasta and salads. Try their pepperoni roll! ($)
South/west: The Spotted Cow serves all manner of ice cream inside the old bank. ($)
South/west: the Tecumseh Brewing Company has great locally crafted beers and informal meals in a pub format (see the bartender for food).
South: For a class act, Evans St. Station serves artisinal fine dining indoors or out. ($$$)

North/east: Pentamere winery is right downtown.
South/east: Look for the chocolate shop.

Wow, with choices like these, you might want to layover 4 hours! You can do that if you ride the 11:00 train.
What's farther out? I drove to Tecumseh.
- The Flying Otter winery is about 5 miles south, on Chase Road. Get there via Raisin Center Highway aka Evans St, which parallels our tracks much of the way.
- Kapnick's Orchards has the cider and donuts we serve on our fall trains, along with an amazing collection of fruit, candied apples, snacks and candy. East on M-50 (and south on Rogers Highway about 3 miles.)
- Cabela's is a huge outdoor goods store. Need we say more?
East on M-50 at US-23. If you're returning to metro Detroit it's only about 15 miles out of your way.
- There are all sorts of other shops and restaurants in Dundee, east on M-50 at US-23.
- The Irish Hills tourist area is along US-12, which M-50 connects to in several places.
- Michigan International Speedway is west 15 miles on M-50.
- The Botanical Gardens is west about 8 miles on M-50.
